Upcoming Mission OpportunitiesAdditional information about missions opportunities for the upcoming week can be found in the weekly update
First and Second Mondays of every month: Meals for the Bill Mehr Drop-in Center. Sign up at the church.
Got Yarn? Junior Girl Scout Troop 932 would like to help you clean out your extra yarn stash and leftovers from your past projects and put them to good use. We plan to make knit hats for babies and crocheted blankets for orphan kids in Africa. There is a collection box at the church.
March 4 - 10: Hilda Barg Shelter Meals. Sign up sheets for meals, supplies, and servers at the church.
March 10, 3:45 pm: DC Mission trip. Meet in the church parking lot for the monthly mission trip to minister to the homeless in downtown DC.
Our DC missions project can use your help.
You or your group could:
1. make personal care kits. Kits are packed into gallon-sized baggies and consist of deoderant, disposable razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion. The first 4 items are usually purchased by Missions. The others are usually hotel or sample size items that are donated. Optional items include small bottles of hand sanitizer, packets of tissues, combs, nail clippers, etc.
2. ask your dentist office if they have any sample toothbrushes or toothpaste they could donate.
3 make the sandwiches for a trip. This consists of making 6 loaves of bread into PB&J sanwiches and putting them in sandwich bags the day of the monthly trip (2d Saturday). Two people can do this in an hour.
4. help sort and pack clothing for the trip. This is usually done the day of the trip and takes about an hour.
5. donate used clothing. Men's outdoor clothing is most needed - jeans, shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, gloves, hats
6. go on a trip - the second Saturday of each month
7. make a financial donation to OBUMC and designate the gift to DC Missions.
