Senior Adult - Silver Pilgrims
Our Senior Adults love to actively share our Christian roots by being together and helping others. You will find us in bible study classes, helping in the nursery, children's dept., our preschool, Mops, VBS and more. Also we have been a part of the church's mission projects for Acts, Hilda Barg Homeless Shelter, gleaning sweet potatoes and apples for the needy and the Angel Christmas Tree to name just a few. It is a special blessing to sing in the Senior Choir and to act as acolytes on some Sundays. We take occasional tours locally also. You are invited to enjoy our monthly Silver Pilgrim luncheons with stimulating programs. Come to church and gain a faith family as well as opportunities to serve.
The Silver Pilgrims luncheons are the fourth Wednesday of the month except in November and December. We meet at 11:30am at the church and the seniors come with all kinds of good food for us all to enjoy. Sharing a favorite dish with the group is a enjoyable treat and it is not unusual to set out extra chairs. Our past programs have included the following: a God and service talk from a Vietnam vet., a Civil War buff on Gettysburg, Hobbies and Collectibles, Nutrition - Exercise and Injury Prevention from a Potomac Hospital staff member, Prince William County's Crime Prevention dept. on Awareness at Home and Away, a family therapist on senior interests and the mission and service of Acts. The rest of this year our programs will be shared Thankfulness for God's Blessings from our own group and the OBUMC Preschool Children's Christmas Program. We extend you a welcome with Christian love and fellowship to our Silver Pilgrims luncheons. Please contact the church for further information.
